Woohoo!

ELC (English Leadership Camp) is a bonding activities whose aim is to make EDSA committee closer. It is the first time EDSA held this kind of event and I can assure you guys it was well worth it. There is so much we can learn from ELC, especially togetherness. Thanks to Human Resource Development department of EDSA who had put so much of their strength and hard work to make this event successful.

We camped one night in Taman Wisata Hutan Penggaron in Ungaran where we could really feel the nature and immersed in it. We smell the fresh air, we felt the breeze, we bore the sunny temperature, and we saw a beautiful starry night.

There are also two speakers, Mr. Baron from Faculty of Law and Ms. Cleo from AIESEC UNDIP. They shared with us their broad knowledge of leading a big department. Those information was expected to affect us in a good way so we can implement many good points delivered by them.

Although we are provided by little electricity and limited infrastructure, we know we are not looking for those things. HRD intended to make us feel together without being distracted by any means of technology and luxury. We share many things in common, especially regarding our beloved EDSA, thus we are equal.

We came back with a hope that this event could make us know each other better. There are many kind of games played which was meant to bond us and test our solidarity. It is true that there are no prizes for the winner, but it did not deter us to do our best. Anyway, physical reward is not something we seek. Somehow there was a vibe that this event can provide us with another form of reward, such as happiness and gratefulness.

We hope this event can have its continuity in another year as to make us more like a family. Our President, Mr. Farid, also emphasized that ELC has advantages more than we can directly feel. Togetherness is not something we can see with our eyes, togetherness is something that we can feel in our daily life in working as one in EDSA Universitas Diponegoro.

Warm regards, my colleagues!

Participants was following the meeting

Last week, the inauguration of our new members had been held. Yesterday, April 9th, our first full-team annual meeting and project conference followed. The event took place for a lengthy 12 hours to discuss AD/ART and project from each and every department. Most of EDSA members participated in this event as to acknowledge every single policy that will be enforced throughout the year of EDSA 16/17.

The participants looked very enthusiastic during the meeting. It can be seen from the number of the students who stayed right from the start until the end of the meeting. Even though it was not a brief meeting, we can say that everyone was paying attention to AD/ART discussion and project conference considering there were many corrections and concrete suggestions given by the participants.

The presidiums

The meeting was led by three presidium. Javier Muhammad Yusuf, Savira Fitria Sari, Isna Nasukha were first presidium, second presidium, and third presidium respectively. The process was rather conducive because there was no significant disturbance came from inside or outside of the meeting. The meeting was scheduled from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm and it went as expected.

The project conference was there to give information regarding project of every department so other members of committee and EDSA members in general can have better picture of what is going to come in English Department. Responsibility was also expected from each department for their own projects because senate members attended the meeting and we should anticipate their assessment of our organisation.

The first meeting of EDSA 16/17 can be considered as the threshold of our contribution to our beloved English Department. We should embrace this opportunity to give our best and show people that our organisation is one of the best there is!

Those smiles!

As it turned out, the birth of our new organization members is quite impressive.

Welcome, new members of our family. We salute you for your courage and determination to build our beloved organization to become one of the best, not only locally but globally. We hope you all can participate in every way to make college life more meaningful and beneficial.

People come and go. But some people should not be forgotten, especially family members. This event marked the reorganization of English Department Student Association. This means the executive of 2015/16 has to bid farewell to us. I have to tell you, man, this is not an easy part when it comes to reorganization.

This event kicked off by opening speeches from our former president, Taufik Wibowo, Mr. Rifka as our EDSA mentor, and Mr. Alamsyah respectively. One of the key points they addressed to us was how important a regeneration is. It shows the health of our organization. Then, the new President, M. Farid Salma, and heads of department were mandated the new jobs symbolically by given our alma mater jacket of the former head of department. The following act was the oath stated by Mr. Rifka and reiterated by the new members as well as the recent executives.

Friends and colleague, we now face the real world. We bear the responsibility and will have to live up to that expectation, no matter what. This fresh air is expected to make another tremendous history, like the former executives did. We can not do it without your commitment and eagerness. So let’s hold our hands together and fear nothing, my folks!
